Plot summary
The movie begins with Raj (Hrithik Roshan), Pooja (Rani Mukerji), and Tina (Kareena Kapoor) as childhood friends who live in Shimla. Raj's father (Kiran Kumar) decides to move to London with his family, leaving behind his best friend Mr. Sahani (Satish Shah) and his daughter Pooja. Raj promises to keep in touch with Pooja through emails, but Tina intercepts them and replies to Raj instead, pretending to be Pooja. Raj falls in love with Tina's witty and charming emails, while Pooja secretly harbors feelings for Raj.
Years later, Raj returns to India for a vacation and reunites with his friends. He is smitten by Tina's beauty and proposes to her, but she rejects him as she is not interested in marriage. Raj is heartbroken and decides to leave India, but not before meeting Pooja once more. He is surprised to find out that Pooja is the one who wrote all those emails to him, and realizes that he loves her instead of Tina. However, he feels guilty for betraying Tina's friendship and decides to sacrifice his love for Pooja.
Meanwhile, Tina learns about Raj and Pooja's feelings for each other and decides to help them get together.
